4.5. Check приводных belts

Auxiliary units (the generator, the water pump and others) in Mondeo actuate клиновой a belt, in Duratec-HE and DuraTorg-units this problem the belt 6K-Poly-V (многожелобчатый solves a belt). Duratec-VE has such two belts: one on the right party of the engine for the generator, the hydropump of the steering mechanism and the Expert-compressor and another on a left-hand side for a drive of the water pump. In general, Ford uses such приводные belts which especially flexibly follow on radiuses of belt pulleys. That in cases of emergency to avoid irritation and a rage, include in the emergency set necessary spare приводные belts – sometime they will be useful to you.

Tension check приводных belts

Privodnye belts regularly carry out the duties only when they are correctly tense: they should hardly, but are not so densely tense. Check from time to time a backlash in the most "distant" places between two auxiliary drives. Simply slightly compress there belts fingers: if a backlash from three to five millimetres it is possible to consider that everything is all right. Hardly tense belts badly affect service life of bearings of the generator, the water pump (depending on engine type) and the conditioner compressor.

Besides, hardly tense приводные belts are drawn and because of it can be broken off. "Weakened" приводные belts, on the contrary, slip are becomes appreciable by weak peeping noise. The generator among the other "suffers" more often, it does not develop sufficient зарядного a current which the storage battery demands during movement on short distances or at cold start-up. Besides it belts are damaged also, its edges "fuse". And as consequence: premature deterioration. In extreme cases sliding приводные belts can lead also to engine rise in temperature and by that to more serious damages (for example, зажатие the piston, пережигание linings of a head of the block of cylinders). Though in Mondeo the backlash приводных belts is automatically corrected, from time to time it is necessary to throw the look on this "transmission".

    Check up belt surfaces. Turn manually the engine some times. Only thus it is possible to see reliably all клиновой a belt. More often клиновые belts can have one, but a deep crack. And if during check this crack, unfortunately, appears on a belt pulley, even at check defect occurrence is possible. If defects have been established, it is better to replace at once приводной a belt. For example, at presence:

    — Irregular grinding рисок on edges of a belt,
    — Porous, shabby edges or surfaces,
    — Old cracks.
