In Ford Mondeo the engines based on четырехклапанной of technology with working volume from 1,8 to 2,5 litres are used basically. The capacity range is thus stretched from 66 кВт/90 h.p. (2,0-litre 16V DuraTorg-DI a turbodiesel) to 125 кВт/170 h.p. (2,5-litre V6 24V Duratec). All carburettor engines correspond to norms D4, and both diesel engines according to norms D3.

The smallest power unit Mondeo delivers Ford in two variants of capacity. Technically both units from easy metals are appreciably identical: for distinction in capacity in another way programmed block of engine management – in a century of motor electronics it, first of all, a question of appropriate chips and bits and «rigid magnetic disks» "answers". The base version about 81 kw (110 h.p.) at 5500 rpm on a capacity limit operates is clamped a little, however at a normal mode of movement becomes quite temperamental (the maximum twisting moment 165 Н·м at 3950 rpm) well to stir and support Mondeo.

2,0-litre 16V Duratec-НЕ – working volume of 1 999 sm3, capacity of 107 kw (145 h.p.)

2,0-litre 16V Duratec-НЕ the baptism of fire has made in Mondeo. Meanwhile it has proved for a long time already the firmness. The power unit executed from easy metals, is characterised by stable parametres of a twisting moment, and also good possibilities of rotation. (107 kw, 145 h.p.) it develops the maximum capacity at 6000 rpm, the maximum twisting moment (145 Н·м) appears at 4500 rpm.

2,5-litre V6 24V Duratec-НЕ – working volume of 2 495 sm3, capacity of 125 kw (170 h.p.)

2,5-litre V6 24V Duratec-НЕ reaches the maximum capacity in 125 kw (170 h.p.) at 6000 rpm. Its curve of a twisting moment possesses – thanks to convenient for air passage to inlet ways, including and the switching inlet pipeline – «spiteful character» with two stable values of capacity: about 95 % of the muscles "play" already V6 at 2500 rpm, the maximum twisting moment (220 Н·м at 4250 rpm), after small recession of capacity, it is given about 4500 rpm.

The autopleasure begins in Mondeo at all from six cylinders, however concerning elasticity and passage working volume, as before, is best "medicine". Example ST 220: now to the strongest Mondeo «engineers in six pots about 500 sm3 of working volume» which have finished thereby working volume V6 24V Duratec-VЕ to 3 litres have presented. 162 kw (220 h.p.) are submitted by it already on a cranked shaft at 6000 rpm, its maximum twisting moment makes 275 Н·м at 4750 rpm.

2,5-litre 16V DuraTorg DI – working volume of 1 998 sm3, capacity of 66 kw (90 h.p.)/85 kw (115 h.p.)

Debut in double packing: 2-litre four-cylinder DuraTorg DI about 66 kw (90 h.p.) or 85 kw (115 h.p.) reflects in itself modern level of diesel technics.

Alternatively to carburettor engines Mondeo have armed also with two four-cylinder turbodiesel engines with direct injection and 16-klapannymi heads of blocks of cylinders. Turbodiesels Mondeo are based on 2,0-litre engine DuraTorg from model Ford Transit, however they have been thoroughly processed on the new workplace. To minimise the noise created in the course of combustion of fuel, for example, by means of system of pilot injection. It "softly" heats up chambers of combustion by means of «an initial ration» that then effectively to ignite «the basic course» diesel fuel on «initial feed».

Placed between two forward wheels Mondeo both diesel engines with a high twisting moment (245 Н·м are allocated at 1900 about/mines/280 Н·м at 1900 rpm), good profitability and parametres of the fulfilled gas corresponding to a spirit of the age. In the 90-strong engine турбонагнетатель with rigid geometry of the rotor, working on the fulfilled gases, squeezes fresh air in cylinders, in the 115-strong version the supercharger with variable blades "rotates". In both engines gas exchange is regulated with the help коромысла with two camshafts located from above. For creation of fuel mix Ford uses either system the pump/atomizer, or technology Commom-Rail, diesel fuel distributes одноплунжерный distributive ТНВД with the help штифтовых sprays in combustion chambers: the 90-strong engine uses for this purpose pump Bosch VP 30, and the 115-strong power unit accordingly Bosch VP 44.
