Earlier check of the fuel pump was a workshop prerogative. During search of malfunctions be better limited to following points.

Disconnect wires of the storage battery and...
... Disconnect the pressure head pipeline from a distributive tube. Prepare rags for following gasoline.
As the fuel system is under pressure, gasoline follows even at the stopped engine.
If connection remains dry, quickly include ignition, thus do not operate with a starter.
If the pump does not work, check up a safety lock or the safety relay.
If connection continues to remain dry, check up the pump relay.
Now the fuel pump should earn.
Otherwise dismantle facing under a back seat and "treat" the pump case with cautiously blows of a small hammer – sometimes it helps.

Thus also check up, whether connecting plugs on contacts strongly sit.
